The Senate confirmed several judicial nominations, military nominations, and a nominee to be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

This Week In Washington 

  • Senate – The Senate confirmed several judicial nominations, military nominations, and a nominee to be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • House – The House passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act (H.R. 7024), the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act (H.R. 5585), the Consequences for Social Security Fraud Act (H.R. 6678), the No Immigration Benefits for Hamas Terrorists Act (H.R. 6679), the Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act (H.R. 6976).
  • Biden Administration – On January 29, the White House announced the 10 regions that will each receive $15 million in federal investment through the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engines Program. An additional $365 million will be distributed in matched contributions from non-federal partners.

Next Week In Washington 

  • Senate – The Senate will reconvene on Monday, February 5, and is expected to continue processing nominations. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced and took procedural steps on moving a supplemental spending bill with possible Ukraine and Israel aid, border security measures, and other items. Schumer said the legislative text would be released “no later than Sunday” with a vote expected “no later than Wednesday.”
  • House – The House will reconvene on Monday, February 5, and may consider the Protecting Health Care for All Patients Act (H.R. 485), the SALT Marriage Penalty Elimination Act (H.R. 339), and H. Res. 987, denouncing the Biden Administration’s LNG license pause and other “anti-American energy policies.”
