The Senate passed the Empowering the US Fire Administration Act (H.R. 7077) with Peters substitute, the Registration for Index-Linked Annuities Act (S. 3198) with Smith-Tillis substitute, the Iran Hostages Congressional Gold Medal Act (S. 2607), the Big Cat Public Safety Act (H.R. 263), the Unleashing American Innovators Act (S. 2773), CBP Maintenance for Ports of Entry (S. 3903), the FIRE Act (S. 3092) as amended by the House, Whistleblower incentives and protections (S. 3316) with Grassley substitute, the Clear and Concise Content Act (S. 4577), the Help Find the Missing Act (S. 5230), the Equal Pay for Team USA Act (S. 2333), Dr Joanne Smith Memorial Rehabilitation Innovation Centers (S. 2834) with Durbin-Cassidy substitute, Gold Medal to Americans killed in Benghazi attack (H.R. 310), the Quantum Computing Cybersecurity Preparedness Act (H.R. 7535) with Hassan substitute, and the North Korean Human Rights Act of 2022 (S. 4216). The Senate also adopted Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month (S.Res. 868) and confirmed judicial nominations.

  • House – The House passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023 (H.R. 7776). The House also passed the Veteran Service Recognition Act (H.R. 7946), the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Act (S. 4052), the Community Disaster Resilience Zones Act (S. 3875), the Rural Opioid Abuse Prevention Act (S. 2796), the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 4834) the Patents for Humanity Act (H.R. 5796), the Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404), and the Disaster Assistance for Rural Communities Act (S. 1617) and concurred in the Senate amendment to the SBA Cyber Awareness Act (H.R. 3462).

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will reconvene at 3:00 pm on Monday. Once legislation is passed by the House, the Senate is expected to take up a continuing resolution (CR) to provide short-term funding for government operations beyond December 16, which is when the current CR expires. The Senate is expected to continue consideration of judicial nominations next week and may also vote on the NDAA.
  • House – The House will reconvene Monday and is expected to consider a CR to fund the government before the current CR’s December 16 expiration.
