Today’s Daily Update

TAKEAWAY: The House will consider eleven bills, listed below that concern: healthcare, cybersecurity, opioids, and pandemic preparedness. The Senate will resume consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) under the Reed-Inhofe Amendment, which amends the original Reed Substitute Amendment #3867. No new legislation was introduced today.

The Senate failed to pass the National Defense Authorization Act by a vote of 45-51

Following the Leaders’ remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of H.R. 4350, the National Defense Authorization bill.

Pending to H.R. 4350 is Reed-Inhofe substitute amendment #3867, as modified.  Pending to the substitute amendment is Reed amendment #4775 (effective dates re: Air Force Space Programs). 

On Monday, a motion to reconsider the failed cloture vote on Reed-Inhofe substitute amendment #3867, as modified, was entered.

On Friday, November 19, cloture was filed on H.R. 4350.  The cloture VOTE will occur following disposition of the substitute amendment.

The Senate will recess until 2:15 p.m. 

VOTES are possible on Tuesday; Senators will be notified if and when they are scheduled. 

The confirmation VOTE on Executive Calendar #463, Brian Eddie Nelson, of California, to be Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Crimes, will occur at a time to be determined.
