This Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate was in recess and met in pro forma session.
  • House – The House approved a budget resolution (S. Con. Res. 14) setting up the process for passage of a $3.5 trillion reconciliation package. The House also approved a rule directing that the House shall consider the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (H.R. 3684), by September 27. The House passed the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4).

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will be in recess and meet in pro forma session. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on September 13.
  • House – The House will hold a committee work week. House committees are expected to begin markups of the reconciliation package. The House Armed Services Committee is scheduled to hold a markup of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022. The House is scheduled to reconvene on September 20, but could return earlier to consider the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the reconciliation package.
