This Week’s Update

The Senate approved a motion to proceed to the legislative vehicle for a bipartisan infrastructure framework (H.R. 3684). The Senate confirmed the nominations of Frank Kendall to be Secretary of the Air Force, Todd Sunhwae Kim to be Assistant Attorney General, Deborah Rosenblum to be Assistant Secretary of Defense, and Gwynne Wilcox and David Prouty to be members of the National Labor Relations Board. The Senate passed a $2.1 billion supplemental appropriations bill to enhance U.S. Capitol security (H.R. 3237), which was subsequently passed in the House.

  • House – The House passed a “minibus” package of seven Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 appropriations bills: Labor-Health and Human Services; Agriculture-FDA; Energy & Water; Financial Services and General Government; Interior-EPA; Military Construction-VA; and Transportation-Housing and Urban Development. The House also passed FY2022 State-Foreign Operations, and Legislative Branch appropriations bills. The House may vote later today on legislation to extend the federal eviction moratorium through December 31, 2021 (H.R. 4791).

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will continue its consideration of the bipartisan infrastructure framework, as well as its consideration of pending nominations.
  • House – The House is scheduled to be in recess and meet in pro forma session.
