This Week’s Update

The Senate and the House continued negotiations towards an omnibus appropriations bill and a coronavirus response package. The Senate and the House passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 18, 2020 and the conference committee agreement on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Both bills will now go to the President for his signature. President Trump has threatened to veto the NDAA. The Senate confirmed Allen Dickerson, Shana Broussard and Sean Cooksey to be members of the Federal Election Commission, and Nathan Simington to be a member of the Federal Communications Commission.

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate and the House will continue negotiations towards an omnibus appropriations bill and a coronavirus response package. The Senate will continue its consideration of judicial nominations.
  • House – The House Majority Leader has alerted members that no votes are expected in the House until an agreement is reached on an appropriations package and coronavirus relief legislation. The Majority Leader indicated that votes could occur as soon as December 15.
