The Senate confirmed several judicial nominees. The Senate failed to invoke cloture on the nomination of Judy Shelton to be a Federal Reserve Board Governor. The Senate and the House agreed to go to conference on the National Defense Authorization Act.

This Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate confirmed several judicial nominees. The Senate failed to invoke cloture on the nomination of Judy Shelton to be a Federal Reserve Board Governor. The Senate and the House agreed to go to conference on the National Defense Authorization Act.
  • House – House Democrats and Republicans held their leadership elections. Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) and Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA) were chosen to remain as the leaders of their respective parties. The House passed the National Apprenticeship Act of 2020 (H.R. 8294).

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will be in recess, but will meet in pro forma session. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on November 30. The Senate and the House are expected to continue negotiations on legislation to fund the government beyond the current December 11, 2020 expiration date. The Senate and House may also go to conference committee on the Water Resources Development Act. 
  • House – The House will be in recess, but will meet in pro forma session. The House is scheduled to reconvene on December 1.
