Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #866, Michael Jay Newman, of Ohio, to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio.

During Monday’s session of the Senate, Senator McConnell withdrew the pending second-degree Tillis amendment to the House Message to accompany S.178 with amendment #2652 (R ‘skinny’ COVID proposal). He filed cloture on the motion to concur with amendment #2652 and offered a second-degree Rubio-Collins amendment #2680 (PPP).

A roll call vote on the motion to table the Rubio-Collins amendment #2680 (PPP) is expected Tuesday afternoon. Additional procedural roll call votes are also expected.

The filing deadline for second-degree amendments to the McConnell SA #2652 is one hour prior to the cloture vote. Unless an agreement is reached, the cloture vote would occur one hour after the Senate convenes on Wednesday, October 21st.

Also during Monday’s session, Senator McConnell moved to proceed to Calendar #554, S.4675, the Protect Act (Tillis).
