This Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate confirmed eight judicial nominees. 
  • House – The House passed the Equity and Inclusion Enforcement Act (H.R. 2574), the Strength in Diversity Act (H.R. 2639), the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (H.R. 2694), the Ensuring Children and Child Care Workers Are Safe Act (H.R. 7909), the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Coronavirus Relief Act. (H.R. 8162), and a resolution condemning all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID-19 (H. Res. 908). 

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will continue its consideration of judicial nominations, as well as nominees to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Senate, House, and Administration leaders are expected to continue negotiations on a Continuing Resolution (CR) to extend government funding beyond the current September 30 expiration date. 
  • House – The House is scheduled to vote on a CR, which will include an extension of surface transportation legislation and the National Flood Insurance Program. The House is also expected to consider the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act (H.R. 4447), the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (H.R. 6210), and the Uyghur Forced Labor Disclosure Act (H.R. 6270).
