This Week’s Update

The Senate failed to invoke cloture on the Just and Unifying Solutions to Invigorate Communities Everywhere (JUSTICE) Act (S. 3985), which is a policing reform bill. The Senate began consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 (S. 4049).

This Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate failed to invoke cloture on the Just and Unifying Solutions to Invigorate Communities Everywhere (JUSTICE) Act (S. 3985), which is a policing reform bill. The Senate began consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 (S. 4049).
  • House – The House passed the Justice in Policing Act (H.R. 7120), which deals with policing reform. The House is expected to vote Friday afternoon on the Washington, D.C. Admission Act (H.R. 51), and  on a resolution to disapprove the Department of Education’s 2019 student loan forgiveness rule (H.J. Res. 76).

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will continue its consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act.
  • House – The House is expected to consider the Moving America Forward Act (H.R. 2), a $1.5 trillion infrastructure package. The House may also vote on a modified version of the State Health Care Premium Reduction Act (H.R. 1425), which would expand Affordable Care Act subsidies and address prescription drug pricing. The House may consider the Emergency Housing Protections and Relief Act (H.R. 7301).
