This Week’s Update

The Senate confirmed the nominations of James Trainor to be a member of the Federal Election Commission, John Ratcliffe to be Director of National Intelligence, and Kenneth Braithwaite to Secretary of the Navy, as well as several judicial nominations. The Senate passed the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act (S. 945), as amended, by unanimous consent.

Next Week in Congress

  • Senate – The Senate will be in recess, with pro forma sessions on May 26 and May 28.
  • House – The House is expected to consider the USA FREEDOM Reauthorization Act (H.R. 6172), as amended by the Senate. H.R. 6172 would extend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act through the end of 2023. The House is also expected to vote additional legislation related to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
