Former U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Acting Chairman Ann Marie Buerkle Joins Williams & Jensen, PLLC

 After more than two decades in public service, Buerkle joins the firm as a Principal where she will assist clients with challenging regulatory, enforcement and reputational issues.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2020 — Williams & Jensen, PLLC announced today that former U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission Acting Chairman, The Honorable Ann Marie Buerkle joins the firm’s Washington, D.C., office as a Principal.

Buerkle spent more than two decades in public service, most recently as the Acting Chairman and Commissioner at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). During her six and a half years at the Commission, she encouraged transparency and strived for more inclusive engagement with all sectors of the regulated community. Her leadership at the agency ensured consumer safety, increased the agency’s effectiveness, and modernized the Agency’s ability to address emerging e-commerce safety issues.

Before joining the CPSC, Buerkle represented the people of New York’s 25th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. There, she served on the Oversight & Government Reform, Foreign Affairs and Veteran’s Affairs Committees. Prior to her time in Congress, for 13 years Buerkle was an Assistant New York State Attorney General. She started her career as a Registered Nurse.
