The House passed H.R. 9, “The Climate Action Now Act,” which would direct the President not to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House passed H.R. 9, “The Climate Action Now Act,” which would direct the President not to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.

 

  • Senate – The Senate failed to override the President’s veto of S.J.Res.7, a joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities in the Republic of Yemen that have not been authorized by Congress. The Senate confirmed a number of nominations, including William Cooper, to be General Counsel of the Department of Energy; R. Clarke Cooper to be an Assistant Secretary of State; and Gordon Hartogensis to be Director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

   

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House is expected to consider H.R. 986, “The Protecting Americans with Preexisting Conditions Act of 2019.” The House may also consider H.R. 1994, “The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act,” as well as supplemental disaster relief appropriations legislation.

 

  • Senate -The Senate is expected to consider the nominations of Kimberly Reed to be President of the Export-Import Bank and Spencer Bachus and Judith DelZoppo Pryor to be Members of the Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank.
