    • Relative to the Death of John Sidney McCain, III:
      • Senate agreed to S. Res. 619, relative to the death of John Sidney McCain, III, a Senator from the State of Arizona.
    • Providing for the Use of the Catafalque:
      • Senate agreed to S. Con. Res. 43, providing for the use of the catafalque situated in the Exhibition Hall of the Capitol Visitor Center in connection with memorial services to be conducted in the rotunda of the Capitol for the Honorable John Sidney McCain, III, late a Senator from the State of Arizona.
    • Authorizing the Use of the Capitol Rotunda:
      • Senate agreed to S. Con. Res. 44, authorizing the use of the rotunda of the Capitol for the lying in state of the remains of the late Honorable John Sidney McCain, III.
  • Johnson Nomination–Agreement:
    • Senate resumed consideration of the nomination of Lynn A. Johnson, of Colorado, to be Assistant Secretary for Family Support, Department of Health and Human Services.
  • During consideration of this nomination today, Senate also took the following action:
    • By 60 yeas to 28 nays (Vote No. 194), Senate agreed to the motion to close further debate on the nomination.
    • A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that notwithstanding Rule XXII, the post-cloture time on the nomination expire at 10:40 a.m., on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
    • A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing for further consideration of the nomination, post-cloture, at approximately 10 a.m., on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

  • The Senate stands adjourned under the provisions of S.Res.619 until 10:00am on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
  • Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of Executive Calendar #994, Lynn A. Johnson, of Colorado, to be Assistant Secretary for Family Support, Department of HHS, post-cloture.
  • At 10:40am, all post-cloture time will expire and the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Johnson nomination. Immediately upon disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #910, Richard Clarida, of Connecticut, to be Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
  • The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
