Today

  • On Monday, following any leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business until 5:00pm. At 5:00pm, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of Executive Calendar #2, Rex Tillerson, to be Secretary of State. There will be 30 minutes of debate equally divided followed by a vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination. If cloture is invoked, there will then be up to 30 hours of debate followed by a vote on confirmation of the Tillerson nomination (expected Wednesday, February 1st).
  • As a reminder, today the Senate reached an agreement that on Tuesday, January 31st, at 12:00 noon, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to consider the nomination of Executive Calendar #4, Elaine L. Chao, of Kentucky, to be Secretary of Transportation. There will be 20 minutes of debate equally divided followed by a vote on confirmation of the nomination.
  • Monday, January 30th at 5:30pm – 1 roll call vote
  • Motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Rex Tillerson to be Secretary of State
  • Tuesday, January 31st at 12:20pm – 1 roll call vote
