This Week’s Update

This week The House passed the “No Hires for the Delinquent IRS Act” (H.R. 1206); the “Ensuring Integrity in the IRS Workforce Act of 2015” (H.R. 3724); the “IRS Oversight While Eliminating Spending Act of 2016” (H.R. 4885); and H.R. 4890, to impose a ban on IRS employee bonuses until a comprehensive customer service strategy is developed and implemented.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House passed the “No Hires for the Delinquent IRS Act” (H.R. 1206); the “Ensuring Integrity in the IRS Workforce Act of 2015” (H.R. 3724); the “IRS Oversight While Eliminating Spending Act of 2016” (H.R. 4885); and H.R. 4890, to impose a ban on IRS employee bonuses until a comprehensive customer service strategy is developed and implemented.

 

  • Senate – The Senate passed the “Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2016” (H.R. 636) and the “Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2015” (S.2012). The Senate began consideration of the “Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2016” (H.R.2028).

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House is expected to consider H.J. Res. 88, a bill that would disapprove of the Labor Department’s new definition of the term “fiduciary.” The House is also expected to vote on the “American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016” (H.R. 4923); the “Scholarships for Opportunity and Results Reauthorization Act” (H.R. 4901); and the “HALOS Act” (H.R. 4498), to specify when a business can make a presentation at a sponsored investor event without having to register a securities offering or verify the sophistication level of potential funders.

 

  • Senate – The Senate is expected to continue consideration of the “Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2016” (H.R.2028).
