  • Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act–Agreement: Senate resumed consideration of S. 524, to authorize the Attorney General to award grants to address the national epidemics of prescription opioid abuse and heroin use, taking action on the following amendments proposed thereto:
    • Pending:
      • Grassley Amendment No. 3378, in the nature of a substitute.
      • Grassley (for Donnelly/Capito) Modified Amendment No. 3374 (to Amendment No. 3378), to provide follow-up services to individuals who have received opioid overdose reversal drugs.
    • During consideration of this measure today, Senate also took the following action:
      • By 86 yeas to 3 nays (Vote No. 32), three-fifths of those Senators duly chosen and sworn, having voted in the affirmative, Senate agreed to the motion to close further debate on Grassley Amendment No. 3378 (listed above).
    • A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing for further consideration of the bill at approximately 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 8, 2016; and that all time during morning business, recess, and adjournment of the Senate count post-cloture on Grassley Amendment No. 3378.

  • Following any Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business for 1 hour, with Democrats controlling the first half and Republicans controlling the final half.
