  • Consumer Review Freedom Act: Senate passed S. 2044, to prohibit the use of certain clauses in form contracts that restrict the ability of a consumer to communicate regarding the goods or services offered in interstate commerce that were the subject of the contract, after withdrawing the committee amendment in the nature of a substitute, and agreeing to the following amendment proposed thereto:
    • McConnell (for Thune) Amendment No. 2927, in the nature of a substitute.
  • Appointments:
  • United States-China Economic Security Review Commission : The Chair announced, on behalf of the Democratic Leader, pursuant to the provisions of Public Law 106-398, as amended by Public Law 108-7, and in consultation with the Chairmen of the Senate Committee on Armed Services and the Senate Committee on Finance, the appointment of the following individuals to serve as members of the United States-China Economic Security Review Commission: Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, and Carte P. Goodwin of West Virginia (reappointment).
  • Nominations Confirmed: Senate confirmed the following nominations:
    • By 45 yeas to 34 nays (Vote No. EX. 335), Alissa M. Starzak, of New York, to be General Counsel of the Department of the Army.
    • John Conger, of Maryland, to be a Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense.
    • Stephen P. Welby, of Maryland, to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
    • Franklin R. Parker, of Illinois, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

Today:

  • The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
  • Following any Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business until 5:00pm, with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.
  • The Senate will recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
