This Week’s Update

This week the House passed the “RAPID Act” (H.R. 348) to streamline the regulatory review, environmental decision making, and permitting process for major federal actions that are construction activities undertaken, reviewed, or funded by federal agencies. Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) announced that he will resign effective October 30, 2015.

This Week in Congress

  • House –The House passed the “RAPID Act” (H.R. 348) to streamline the regulatory review, environmental decision making, and permitting process for major federal actions that are construction activities undertaken, reviewed, or funded by federal agencies. Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) announced that he will resign effective October 30, 2015.

 

  • Senate – The Senate did not agree to the motion to invoke cloture on the substitute amendment that contains the text of the continuing resolution and language to defund Planned Parenthood. The Senate also failed to invoke cloture on the motions to proceed to both the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” (H.R. 36) and the “Defense Appropriations Act of 2015” (H.R. 2685).

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House –The House is expected to vote on the “Women’s Public Health and Safety Act” (H.R. 3495) and legislation containing the continuing resolution. The House may vote on H.R. 702, to lift the ban on exporting crude oil, although reports indicate the vote will be pushed back until the week of October 5.

 

  • Senate –On September 28, the Senate will vote at 5:30 PM on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment to the Senate amendment to H.R. 719 with an amendment containing the text of the continuing resolution.
