This Week’s Update

Attached is this week’s Washington Update, which covers: taxes; trade; financial services; energy and environment; defense; health; transportation and infrastructure; and technology.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House passed the “Promoting Job Creation and Reducing Small Business Burdens Act” (H.R. 37) and the “Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2015” (H.R. 240) with five Republican amendments addressing President Barack Obama’s Executive Order on immigration.

 

  • Senate – The Senate agreed to the motion to proceed to the “Keystone XL Pipeline Act” (S. 1). There are four pending amendments to the bill: a substitute amendment (Murkowski S.Amdt.2); “Keep Oil in America” (Markey S.Amdt.13); to promote energy efficiency (Portman-Shaheen S.Amdt.3); and “Keep Jobs in America” (Franken S.Amdt.17).

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House is expected to consider the “Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act” (H.R. 161) and the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” (H.R. 36).

 

  • Senate – The Senate is expected to continue consideration of the “Keystone XL Pipeline Act” (S.1) with the roll call votes on pending amendments on January 20.
