This Week’s Update

Last week, the House passed the “Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2015” (H.R. 5016) by a 228–195 vote and the “Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2014” (H.R. 5021) by a 367–55 vote. The Senate passed the “Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2014” (S. 2244) by a 93-4 vote.


This Week in Congress

  • House –  The House passed the “Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2015” (H.R. 5016) by a 228–195 vote and the “Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2014” (H.R. 5021) by a 367–55 vote. The House passed the “Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act” (H.R. 3086) to permanently extend the Internet Tax Freedom Act by voice vote. 

 

  • Senate –  The Senate passed the “Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2014” (S.2244) by a 93-4 vote. The Senate passed the “Veterinary Medicine Mobility Act of 2014” (H.R.1528) by unanimous consent. The Senate failed to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to the “Protect Women’s Health From Corporate Interference Act of 2014” (S.2578) by a 56-41 vote.

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House –  The House is expected to consider the “Advancing Competency-Based Education Demonstration Project Act of 2013” (H.R. 3136); the “Empowering Students Through Enhanced Financial Counseling Act” (H.R. 4984); the “Child Tax Credit Improvement Act of 2014” (H.R. 4935); and the “Student and Family Tax Simplification Act” (H.R. 3393).

 

  • Senate –  The Senate will reconvene at 2:00 pm on July 21. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said he will schedule votes this month on the “Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2014” (H.R. 5021) and a competing Senate version.
