The House passes legislation to reauthorize the CFTC; and continues consideration of “Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act” (H.R. 6).

House

 

Yesterday:

  • The House passed the “Customer Protection and End User Relief Act” (H.R. 4413) to reauthorize the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, to better protect futures customers, to provide end users with market certainty, to make basic reforms to ensure transparency and accountability at the Commission, to help farmers, ranchers, and end users manage risks to help keep consumer costs low, and for other purposes.” by a vote of 265-144; and the North American Energy Infrastructure Act (H.R. 3301) to require approval for the construction, connection, operation, or maintenance of oil or natural gas pipelines or electric transmission facilities at the national boundary of the United States for the import or export of oil, natural gas, or electricity to or from Canada or Mexico, and for other purposes by a vote of 238-173.
  • The House began consideration of the “Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act” (H.R. 6)
  • The following legislation passed under suspension of the rules and by voice vote:
    • 1) H.R. 4631 -The Autism CARES Act of 2014, as amended
    • 2) H.R. 4080 – Trauma Systems and Regionalization of Emergency Care Reauthorization Act, as amended
    • 3) H.R. 3548 – Improving Trauma Care Act of 2014
    • 4) H.R. 1098 – Traumatic Brain Injury Reauthorization Act of 2013, as amended
    • 5) H.R. 1281 – Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act of 2013
    • 6) S. 1681 – Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014

Today:

  • The House is expected to complete consideration of the “Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act” (H.R. 6) and begin consideration of the “Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America That Works Act of 2014” (H.R. 4899).
    • First and last votes are expected between 3:30 and 5:00 PM

  • The Senate voted on judicial nominees and on the confirmation of Leon Rodriguez to be Director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security.
