Senate confirms nomination of Stanley Fischer to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve; House continues consideration of the “National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2015”

House

 

Yesterday:

  • The House adopted H. Res. 590 “Providing for further consideration of the bill (H.R. 4435) to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2015 for military activities of the Department of Defense and for military construction, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; and providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 3361) to reform the authorities of the Federal Government to require the production of certain business records, conduct electronic surveillance, use pen registers and trap and trace devices, and use other forms of information gathering for foreign intelligence, counterterrorism, and criminal purposes, and for other purposes” by a vote of 231 – 190

Today:

  • The House is expected to complete consideration of the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015” (H.R. 4435) and begin consideration of the “USA FREEDOM Act” (H.R. 3361).

 

Senate

 

Yesterday:

  • The Senate confirmed the nomination of Stanley Fischer to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System for the unexpired term of fourteen years from February 1, 2006 by a vote of 68 – 27.
  • The Senate passed the “Reliable Home Heating Act” (S. 2086) to address current emergency shortages of propane and other home heating fuels and to provide greater flexibility and information for Governors to address such emergencies in the future, after agreeing to the committee amendment in the nature of a substitute.

Today:

  • Senate will vote on the adoption of the conference report to accompany the “Water Resources Development Act of 2013” (H.R.3080) (60-vote threshold); and the confirmation of David Barron to be United States Circuit Judge for the First Circuit
