This Week in Congress

  • House – The House passed the “Temporary Debt Limit Extension Act” (S. 540) that suspends the debt ceiling until March 15, 2015 by a vote of 221-201The House passed S. 25, a bill to repeal a cut in the cost-of-living adjustment for some military pensions used as a pay-for in the “Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013,” by a 326-90 vote. The House also passed the “Consumer Financial Protection Safety and Soundness Improvement Act of 2013” (H.R. 3193) by a vote of 222-195.

 

  • Senate – The Senate passed the “Temporary Debt Limit Extension Act” (S. 540) by a vote of 55-43 and also passed S. 25 by a 95-3 vote. The Senate began consideration of the motion to proceed to consideration of the “Comprehensive Veterans Health and Benefits and Military Retirement Pay Restoration Act” (S. 1982). Senator-Designate John Walsh (D-MT) was sworn in to fill the vacancy created when Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) stepped down to be the U.S. Ambassador to China.
