This Week’s Update

Last week the House passed the Farm Bill conference report and the Senate approved the “Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act” (S. 1926). A joint session of the House and Senate heard President Obama give his 2014 State of the Union address.

This Week in Congress

  • House –The House passed the “Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013” (H.R. 2642) by a vote of 251-166.

 

  • Senate – The Senate passed the “Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act” (S. 1926) to delay the implementation of certain provisions of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 by a vote of 67-32. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) filed a cloture motion on the conference report for the “Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013” (H.R.2642).

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House is expected to consider the following pursuant to a rule: the “Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act of 2013” (H.R. 3590), the “Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Emergency Water Delivery Act” (H.R. 3964) and the “Public Access and Lands Improvement Act” (H.R. 2954).

 

  • Senate – Per a unanimous consent agreement, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the conference report for the “Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013” (H.R.2642) on February 3 and if cloture is invoked, the Senate will vote on final passage on February 4.
