State of the Union address on Tuesday; Short week in House for GOP retreat; Senate continues consideration of flood insurance and unemployment benefits

House

Friday:

  • The House was not in session.

Today:

  • The House will meet at 12:00 p.m. for morning hour and 2:00 p.m. for legislative business. Votes will be postponed until 6:30 p.m. The House is expected to consider the following legislation under suspension of the rules:
    • 1) H.R. 2166 – Good Samaritan Search and Recovery Act, as amended (Sponsored by Rep. Joe Heck / Natural Resources Committee)
    • 2) H.R. 1684 – Ranch A Consolidation Management Improvement Act (Sponsored by Rep. Cynthia Lummis / Natural Resources Committee)
    • 3) H.R. 3008 – To provide for the conveyance of a small parcel of National Forest System land in Los Padres National Forest in California, and for other purposes (Sponsored by Rep. Lois Capps / Natural Resources Committee)

 

Senate

Friday:

  • The Senate was not in session.


Today:

  • The Senate will convene at 2:00pm and will resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S.1926, the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act. At 5:30pm, there will be a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to S.1926. Cloture was filed on the motion to proceed to the bill on Thursday, January 16th.
