Today’s Daily Update



  • The House agreed to H. Res. 339, the rule that is providing for consideration of H.R. 2775, to condition the provision of premium and cost-sharing subsidies under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act upon a certification that a program to verify household income and other qualifications for such subsidies is operational, by a yea-and-nay vote of 228 yeas to 195 nays, Roll No. 457, after the previous question was ordered by a yea-and-nay vote of 227 yeas to 196 nays, Roll No. 456.



  • The House is expected to complete consideration of H.R. 2775 – No Subsides Without Verification Act (Sponsored by Rep. Diane Black / Energy and Commerce Committee / Ways and Means Committee).




  • The Senate began consideration of Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act, S. 1392, to promote energy savings in residential buildings and industry, after agreeing to the motion to proceed, and taking action on the following amendment proposed thereto:
    • Pending:
      • Wyden (for Merkley) Amendment No. 1858, to provide for a study and report on standby usage power standards implemented by States and other industrialized nations.
    • A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that no amendments or motions be in order relative to Syria or the use of military force during the consideration of the bill.
    • A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing for further consideration of the bill at approximately 10:30 a.m. today.


  • The Senate is expected to resume consideration of S.1392, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act.
