Yesterday:

  • The House agreed to suspend the rules and pass the following measures:
    • National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers Reform Act of 2013: H.R. 1155, amended, to reform the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers; and
    • Streamlining Claims Processing for Federal Contractor Employees Act: H.R. 2747, to amend title 40, United States Code, to transfer certain functions from the Government Accountability Office to the Department of Labor relating to the processing of claims for the payment of workers who were not paid appropriate wages under certain provisions of such title.

 

Today:

  • The House is expected to debate H.R. 2775 – No Subsides Without Verification Act (Closed Rule, One Hour of Debate) (Sponsored by Rep. Diane Black / Energy & Commerce Committee / Ways and Means Committee).
  • This afternoon, the House is expected to hold unspecified votes.

 

Senate

Yesterday:

  • The Senate considered the following measures:
    • Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against the Government of Syria to Respond to Use of Chemical Weapons: Senate continued consideration of the motion to proceed to consideration of S.J. Res. 21, to authorize the limited and specified use of the United States Armed Forces against Syria.
    • Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act–Agreement: A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that the order of Thursday, August 1, 2013, with respect to S. 1392, to promote energy savings in residential buildings and industry, be modified so that the motion to proceed to consideration of the bill be agreed to at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader with the concurrence of the Republican Leader.
    • Family Farmer Bankruptcy Clarification Act–Referral Agreement: A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that the Committee on Finance be discharged from further consideration of S. 1427, to amend title 11 of the United States Code to clarify the rule allowing discharge as a nonpriority claim of governmental claims arising from the disposition of farm assets under chapter 12 bankruptcies, and the bill then be referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
    • Moment of Silence for 9/11 Victims–Agreement: A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that following the prayer and pledge today, there be a moment of silence to pay tribute to the thousands of Americans whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001.

Today:

  • The Senate will hold a moment of silence to pay tribute to the thousands of Americans whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001. There will be a bipartisan, bicameral remembrance ceremony of the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks at 11:00am tomorrow on the East Front of the Capitol.
  • This afternoon, the Senate will meet for unspecified legislative business.
