Yesterday:

  • The House agreed to suspend the rules and pass the following measures:
    • Financial Competitive Act of 2013: H.R. 1341, amended, to require the Financial Stability Oversight Council to conduct a study of the likely effects of the differences between the United States and other jurisdictions in implementing the derivatives credit valuation adjustment capital requirement, by a \2/3\ yea-and-nay vote of 353 yeas to 24 nays, Roll No. 305;
    • Audit Integrity and Job Protection Act: H.R. 1564, amended, to amend the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 to prohibit the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board from requiring public companies to use specific auditors or require the use of different auditors on a rotating basis, by a \2/3\ yea-and-nay vote of 321 yeas to 62 nays, Roll No. 306; and
    • FOR VETS Act of 2013: H.R. 1171, to amend title 40, United States Code, to improve veterans service organizations access to Federal surplus personal property, by a \2/3\ yea-and-nay vote of 387 yeas to 1 nay, Roll No. 307.

 

Today:

  • The House will begin consideration of H.R. 2609 – Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2014 (Open Rule) (Sponsored by Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen / Appropriations Committee)

 

Senate

Yesterday:

  • Senate passed the “Organization of American States Revitalization and Reform Act” (S. 793), to support revitalization and reform of the Organization of American States.
  • Senate began consideration of the motion to proceed to consideration of “Keep Student Loans Affordable Act-Cloture” S. 1238, to amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to extend the current reduced interest rate for undergraduate Federal Direct Stafford Loans for 1 year, to modify required distribution rules for pension plans.
    • A motion was entered to close further debate on the motion to proceed to consideration of the bill, and, in accordance with the provisions of Rule XXII of the Standing Rules of the Senate, a vote on cloture will occur on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

 

Today:

  • Senate is expected to renew the motion to proceed to S.1238, the Keep Student Loans Affordable Act of 2013.
