This week’s Washington Update covers: taxes; financial services; energy and environment; defense; health; transportation and infrastructure; and technology.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House approved debt prioritization legislation, the “Full Faith and Credit Act” (H.R. 807) and the “Working Families Flexibility Act of 2013” (H.R. 1406), which allows private-sector employers to provide the option of comp time instead of overtime pay.

 

  • Senate – The Senate approved internet tax legislation, the “Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013” (S. 743). The Senate also approved the “Animal Drug and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Reauthorization Act of 2013” (S. 622) and began consideration of the “Water Resources Development Act” (S. 601).

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House is likely to consider the “SEC Regulatory Accountability Act” (H.R. 1062) and a bill to “repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health-care related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010” (H.R. 45).

 

  • Senate – The Senate will continue consideration of the “Water Resources Development Act” (S. 601).
