This week’s Washington Update covers: taxes; financial services; energy and environment; defense; health; transportation and infrastructure; and technology.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House approved the “Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act” (H.R. 803), the “Preserving Work Requirements for Welfare Programs Act of 2013” (H.R. 890), the “Eliminate Privacy Notice Confusion Act” (H.R. 749) and a bill requiring a study relating to community-based flood insurance options (H.R. 1035).

 

  • Senate – The Senate began consideration of the “Department of Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2013” (H.R. 933), which would maintain sequester-level funding for the government through the September 30, 2013.

 

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House will consider the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2014 (H. Con. Res. __).

 

  • Senate – The Senate will continue consideration of the House-passed “Department of Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2013” (H.R. 933). The Senate is also expected to begin consideration of the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2014 (S. Con. Res. __).
