This week’s Washington Update covers: taxes; financial services; energy and environment; defense; transportation; and technology.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House approved the “Russia and Moldova Jackson-Vanik Repeal and Sergi Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012” (H.R. 6156), which repeals trade restrictions and effectively extends permanent normal trade relations to Russia. Under suspension of the rules, the House also approved the “New York City Natural Gas Supply Enhancement Act” (H.R. 2606) and a bill to amend the Recovery Act of 2009 to consolidate certain CBO reporting requirements (H.R. 6570)

 

  • Senate – The Senate voted to invoke cloture and limit debate on the “Sportsmen’s Act of 2012” (S. 3525) and voted against cloture on the “Cybersecurity Act of 2012” (S. 3414).

  • House – The House is in recess until Monday, November 26.

 

  • Senate – The Senate is also in recess until November 26.
