This week’s Washington Update covers: taxes; trade; financial services; energy and environment; defense; and technology.

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House approved the “FY 2013 Department of Defense Appropriations Act” (H.R. 5856) and the “Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012” (H.R. 5872).

 

  • Senate – The Senate failed to invoked cloture on the motion to proceed to the “Bringing Jobs Home Act” (S. 3364). Earlier in the week, the Senate also failed to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed on the “DISCLOSE ACT”, legislation to expand the campaign finance “disclosure requirements for corporations, labor organizations, Super PACs and other entities”.

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House will consider the “Congressional Replacement of President Obama’s Energy-Restricting and Job-Limiting Offshore Drilling Plan” (H.R. 6082) and the “Regulatory Freeze for Jobs Act of 2012” (H.R. 4078).

 

  • Senate – On Monday, The Senate will consider the nomination of Michael Shipp to be a United States District Court Judge.
