This Week in Congress

  • House – The House was not in session.


  • Senate – The Senate approved the “Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act” (S. 3187) and a 60-day extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (H.R. 5740).

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House will return from recess on Wednesday, May 30. The House will likely consider the “Military Construction and Veterans’ Affairs Appropriations Act” (H.R. 5854), the “Intelligence Authorization for Fiscal Year 2013” (H.R. 5743) and an FDA user fee reform bill (H.R. 5651). During the week of June 4, the House is expected to consider: legislation “to repeal the amendments made by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act which disqualify expenses for over-the-counter drugs under health savings accounts and health flexible spending arrangements” (H.R. 5842) and a bill to repeal the medical device excise tax (H.R. 436).


  • Senate – The Senate will be in recess until June 4.
