This week’s Washington Update covers: taxes and trade; health care; financial services; energy and environment; and defense. .

This Week in Congress

  • House – The House approved Free Trade Agreements with Colombia (H.R. 3078), Panama (H.R. 3079), and South Korea (H.R. 3080) and agreed to an extension of the Generalized System of Preferences (H.R. 2832). The House also approved two bills to reduce the impact of Environmental Protection Agency regulations, the “EPA Regulatory Relief Act of 2011” (H.R. 2250) and the “Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act” (H.R. 2273).

 

  • Senate – The Senate approved the “Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act” (S. 1619). The Senate also approved the Free Trade Agreements with Colombia (H.R. 3078), Panama (H.R. 3079), and South Korea (H.R. 3080).

Next Week in Congress

  • House – The House is not in session.

 

  • Senate – The Senate will consider H.R. 2112, the legislative vehicle for the Agriculture, Commerce, Justice and Science, and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bills.
